GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 9th. May, 1914.

Sir,

I have the honour to transmit for your inform- -ation the enclosed copy of correspondence which has passed,

through His Britannic Majesty's Consul-General, between the Tutu

of Kwangtung and myself relative to a call made upon me by the Military Commissioner of the Province, who is Lung Chai-kwong's elder brother, and by the Chief of Police representing the Civil

Governor.

2.

Mr. Jamieson suggested to me some time ago that I should call on the Tutu, but I have been unwilling to do so

until the Government of the Province is placed on a more satis-

-factory basis. Mr. Jamieson agreed in this view and it is my

intention to ask your permission to return the call of the Tutu's

and Civil Governor's delegates if and when the proposed measures

for the rehabilitation of the Canton llote issue are inaugurated.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,
